Every year, you can help support students through a non-refundable tax credit called the public school tax credit or extracurricular tax credit. Individuals may claim the tax credit directly to the Tolleson Union High School District or a specific school/program in our district. The tax credit is claimed by the individual or as a married couple filing jointly. A married joint filer can claim up to $400, and a single filer can claim up to $200.
The following list of activities and programs are examples of what can be earmarked for your donation:
- Extracurricular Activities: School sponsored activities for enrolled students that supplement the school’s education program. These items can include band uniforms, equipment or uniforms for varsity athletics activities, scientific laboratory materials, in-state or out-of-state trips that are solely for competitive events, and other items.
- Character Education: A course of study designed to illustrate certain character traits.
- Standardized Testing and Fees
- Career and Technical Education Assessments
- CPR Training
- School Meal Programs: A school meal program that takes place before or after the regular school day and is on school property.
- Students Consumable Healthcare Supplies
If you donate before April 15, 2026, you can choose to apply your donation to either your 2025 or 2026 taxes. 100 percent of your contribution goes directly to the school or activity/program of your choice and is non-refundable.
